Community oral health

I was reading in chapter 2 the factors affecting dental pubic health which stated the number one issue facing dental care delivery in the United States today is access to dental care. There are various reasons: (1) Hygienists are restricted to providing care with the supervision of dentists. (2) People lack financial resources and transportation. (3)socioeconomic status of individuals affects the access to dental care. Also in the book it said that more than half (57 percent) of parents report unmet dental needs of their children, which is nearly five times the number reporting the needs for eyeglasses. For about a year I had to go without medical and dental insurance because I only worked part-time which doesn't provide medical and dental insurance, insurance coverage was only for full-time employees. I could only work part-time because I was going to college at this time,I was able to utilize our student clinic for medical issues. Often think what if I didn't have our student clinic where would I have gone?
