Complete

I have just completed my last day at clinic. I am so excited and nervous about finishing school and taking my boards. Its do or die time for me, but I am confident that I can do it. May 7th and 8th are going to be stressful days.

Sunday Studying

I spent most of the day studying for my anesthesia written test today. I got my schedule the other day and I am set to take the anesthesia test on May 7th and my clinical boards on May 8th. I am hoping that May 8th will prove to be a great day, since it is my 4th year wedding anniversary. I am looking forward to completing the test and celebrating!

Thursday's Clinic

Today was a good day. I just completed ALL my requirements and I found a board patient. Thanks to Meredith and Sheri, who screened a patient while I was screening my husband. Meredith and Sheri are going to use this patient as backup and I am going to use him as a primary. I still need to find a backup. Maybe next Tuesday or Thursday I will find one!

My first post since last year...

Wow, its been quite a year for me. I now have a cute 7 month old bundle of joy. I have gone back to school to complete my dental hygiene degree. It's been quite a journey, but I think things are looking up. I have nearly completed all my requirements and looking forward to finishing in May. It's crunch time, and the thing that has me really concerned is that I don't have a board patient yet. My husband is going to be coming in so I can can screen him. I know he collects calculus in a hurry, so I hope he qualifies. Only three more days at Weber, so I hope I can find someone. :)

Last Mockboard

I passed the last mockboard which was nice because the last mockboard I didn't do that well. I still feel that I need to review occlusion in the book because that was one of the areas that I missed on the mockboard which I don't want to miss on the real boards. I hope everything goes well for boards and that I pass.

Requirements that I still have to do:(

I still need the following requirements: 2 exams of a class III, 7 quads of a class IV, 1 periodontal pedicament PE, 2 root debridement PE's, 2 Periodontal file PE's, 3 injection PE's and I think 11 more experiences of injections. The major concern I have in completing these requirements is time because there is only one more month left in the semester. I haven't had the best of luck with this semester in getting class III requirements and class IV patients. Also I have been asking all my patients about the use of local anesthetic, but no luck in getting them to have local anesthetic. So hopefully I get all of my requirements done at the end of this semester because I don't know how I will be able to come back to get them done being that I am due with my baby the end of August.

Production Day!!

I am glad that we are able to have this opportunity to see how are day will be in regular practice. I still feel that I need to work on organization and speed, but I do believe that within time I will achieve this. I am still trying to keep a positive attitude about finishing my requirements, but at this point I feel that I have a lot to still accomplish in a short amount of time. I had two children in the afternoon of my production day they kept me busy. I had a hard time with both of them with x-rays because they both had troubles biting down on the tab portion of film. Also it is hard for a six year old to stay still and I instructed him not to move, but he still did which I had to take both films all over again:( Also with his sister she I placed the pillows on the film so that it wouldn't bother floor of the mouth, but it still bothered her. I felt that I tried everything that I could possibly do. At the end of day I was glad it was over:)
